For many people, their images of Africa are crowded with photos of hungry children, brutal wars, and devastating natural disasters.

Fortunately, there is more to Africa, a lot more. As of 2019, approximately 1.3 billion people were living in 54 countries in this resource-rich and diverse continent. Recent growth has been due to sales in commodities, services, and manufacturing. According to McKinsey, by 2025, household consumption will reach $2.1 trillion and business spending $3.5 trillion – a total of $5.6 trillion in business and investment opportunities. In 2019, the five fastest-growing economies in the world were in Africa — expanding at more than two times the rate of the worldwide average. Of course, like everywhere else in the world, the African economies have been slowed by Covid-19. Nevertheless, the resources — both human capital and natural — remain.

At LocWorld, we have been discussing a conference in Africa since 2017. With the advent of virtual meetings, we decided that now is the time. Indeed, as the effect of Covid-19 appears to be lessening, this is definitely the time to talk about countries and economies that are poised to exceed expectations.

In this session (which is somewhat of a preview for LocWorld Africa in March 2022) we will show you the other Africa. The Africa of vibrant cities, successful businesses, creative startups, and the incredibly diverse landscape of languages — full of challenges and opportunities.  This session occurred during LocWorldWide46 and is now available for streaming.

Our panelists bring a variety of experiences and knowledge to this session.
