There was an urgent need to expand social reading app Bookmate internationally — to tackle rising competition head-on. Localization was identified as key to making this happen. However, in its eight years Bookmate had never done anything like this before. Responsibility fell to the quality assurance manager, but over several months it became clear that localization is not something you can do part-time, so a professional localization manager was hired. In this presentation we’ll share mistakes and achievements, and discuss the importance of building strong connections between the localization team and other departments.
Takeaways: Attendees will learn how a small company with an agile development approach can build its own localization strategy, organize the localization process and increase a product’s localizability.
