In this session we will help clarify the changing landscape of machine translation (MT) and data consumption now that neural networks has become part of our daily work. We will introduce modern machine translation (MMT) technology which packages the best of the ‘old’ statistical MT approach and the new state-of-the-art neural MT approach. In particular, MMT’s MT technology will soon offer real-time training and adaptive power with the fluency and quality jumps of neural MT. The modern MT technology has been developed by a European Union-funded consortium, consisting of FBK Trento, Translated, University of Edinburgh and TAUS. New neural MT changes the requirement for data completely, large volumes of data will be in the past and now we will only need smaller volumes of high-quality and domain-specific data. We will also introduce the new TAUS Data Market with its elastic and semantic search features and new APIs. The TAUS Data Market allows producers and owners of translations to capitalize on their data and gives power users and MT developers such as modern MT access to exactly the right high-quality data.
