Come participate in this diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) workshop that focuses on the localization industry. The aim of this workshop is raising questions about equity in our industry and providing professionals with tools to advocate for inclusivity in their workplace and implement respectful language guidelines in their localization efforts. We will explore how to create an inclusive climate and the role that language plays in fostering a sense of belonging: what do we mean by microaggression, and what are linguistic inequalities? We will look at this from the context of localization: is a text-born inclusive English going to sound and feel inclusive in other locales? What are the most common areas and setbacks, and how do we strategize inclusion in localization? We will ask participants to share their personal experiences, creating a safe space for people to share ideas and brainstorm around best practices. Please come prepared to share and actively participate in group discussions.

Takeaways: Attendees will learn about linguistic microaggressions and discriminations in language; how biases and stereotypes travel through languages; how to incorporate a DEI and belonging perspective in talent acquisition and vendor engagement; and hear the benefits of planning and strategizing inclusion in localization.

Target Audience: Buyers and decision makers, vendor managers, project managers, language leads, and linguists.

This 90-minute session is a special fundraiser for CLEAR Global (Translators without Borders). Once you register for the workshop, you will be given the link to the CLEAR Global website to make your donation. Fee: €100 (all proceeds to go CLEAR Global).
