Traditional localization quality metrics focus on providing a good user experience for end-users abroad but often fail to consider nuanced, specific end-user preferences. In this session, participants will learn how localization departments can shift their focus toward end users through surveys, focus groups, and customer feedback channels and step into their role as the de facto ambassadors to global customers by helping their organizations better understand and respect their global users.

Takeaways: Participants will learn about recent shifts in localization quality best practices and why traditional language quality assurance (LQA) metrics are no longer sufficient to measure localization quality for each market properly. We will review and reconsider the role of localization departments in gathering and implementing market-specific feedback to improve user experience, using real-life examples to demonstrate the benefits of experiential language quality assurance (XLQA) practices. Participants will walk away from this session having learned some practical steps they can implement to begin the shift from “localization department” to “global customer ambassadors.”
