The speakers have been exploring large language models (LLMs) as a productivity aid for the translation of their nine existing languages and to scale their offering into 30+ new long-tail languages by 2025. They initially prompted ChatGPT to translate a language sample from their core product into German and Spanish. They trained the model with their approved glossary and some simple prompts. Reviewers compared the machine output to their approved human translations of the same content. They saw some promising early results but needed to expand this to more testing. They then used Phrase Language AI to expand their access to multiple MT engines and further improve glossary usage.
