Localization is all about understanding and being understood across language barriers. As user experience designers and content writers take into account inclusivity and accessibility in content creation, so should localization managers in adapting content for their locales. How do we manage issues related to gender, race, age, cultural discrimination, and ableism in a multilanguage context? In this session, we will delve into the what, why, and how to strategize localization factoring in diversity, equity, and inclusion. We will feature the point of view of buyers and language service providers (LSPs), ultimately exploring how direct communication between buyers, LSPs, and freelancers can improve such strategies and drive meaningful change.
Takeaways: Inclusivity and accessibility are still scarcely discussed at a multilanguage level, it is due time the topic is addressed as a holistic localization strategy.
