In this presentation, we will concentrate on local language experts and the languages that they work with. They will each give an overview of the language spread and distribution; uses of these languages on social media, in business, and in personal interaction; standardization; and translator resource availability. The areas and languages covered will be:
- Mali: Songhai (Sahel zone), Fulfulde, and Bambara
- Nigeria: Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba
- East Africa: Swahili variants including Sheng
- Ethiopia: Amharic, Oromo, and Tigrinya
