Moving Left: Localization Strategies for the Entire Development Process, from Early Development to Player Support
Track: Game Global | GG1 | Everyone |
Wednesday, June 7, 2023, 9:00am – 9:30am
Held in: Live 6-7
Presenter:
Miguel Sepulveda - King
Host: Fabio Minazzi
King is working to change the traditional approach to localization in the gaming industry, which is often a transactional process, occurring late in the development cycle. They believe localization should be integrated into product development to provide a better end-to-end solution. By moving globalization activities “to the left” and incorporating them into the early stages of development, they create diverse game experiences that appeal to a broader audience. They believe localization activities should neither be a commodity nor an afterthought, but a partnership with different stakeholders to create a digital product, from ideation all the way to player support.
Takeaways: Attendees will learn how to move from a transactional relationship to a partnership with a product team; hear tips/tactics for creating inclusive content; learn how to drive a localization operations program, and how to manage stakeholders so localization is perceived as a revenue enabler and an opportunity, not an unnecessary expense.
