Our increasingly globalized world demands need for cross-cultural competencies. While our industry is ahead of many others in this respect, we have room for improvement. A recent research with over 50 industry leaders confirmed this. And as language service providers of all sizes and our customers expand into new global markets, the ability to navigate different cultures becomes essential or even a competitive advantage. But what is culture? We tend to think of it in terms of experiencing new languages, art, and customs of the global capitals and countries we visit. But culture goes far deeper than these expressions of it.

Takeaways: This presentation applies the Hofstede Insights six cultural dimensions using real-life mini case studies from our industry to help attendees better understand their own cultural backgrounds and how this affects attitudes, behaviors, assumptions, and perceptions; to understand how these are the same or different from other cultural backgrounds; and considerations they can make to be more effective working cross-border teams.
