Synthetic media is a revolution in content creation that is lowering the barriers for creating compelling and high-quality multimedia content.  It is made with the help of cutting-edge AI to simulate any part of a production. As is typical with such powerful tools, there are ethical responsibilities, such as deepfakes and impersonation. Also of interest is the limited coverage of lower-resource languages. We will survey this emerging market as well as discuss the potential for creating a more equitable landscape for indigenous and other language communities, eliminating certain traditional production roles, and potentially entering a world free of text.

Takeaways: Attendees will get an understanding of the new emerging landscape and how language service providers will need to adapt to a changing climate and they will see examples of new technologies in practical situations generating speech, video, and text.
