The focus of this session is on how machine learning techniques such as few-shot learning and zero-shot learning and large language models can effectively retire altogether the concept of translation memories and glossaries and possibly turn the entire idea of localization onto its head. We will show practical examples in multiple languages of how large language models are able to merge machine translation, translation memory, and glossaries in run time, creating a reliable stream of content with minimal time to edit and edit distance. We will explore the variations across languages and domains and delve into the perils and potentials of this application of artificial intelligence. We will also explore how the nature of writing and translation will change through large language models.
Takeaways: Attendees will learn how to reframe localization structural knowledge management pillars (translation memory and termbase) in light of recent technological advances; how this application varies across languages and domains; how to extract the most value for your business or agency.
