As the scope of translation expands in the modern global enterprise, the language service provider (LSP) also needs to adjust and adapt to the evolving needs. The new focus includes both growing volumes of internal corporate content and more external content created by influencers and customers. Both are needed to deliver a better customer experience (CX) and developer experience. Thus, we see there will be a need for LSPs to provide more automation and greater deployment of machine-learning-aided steps in the overall translation production process; better organization, meta-tagging, and classification of linguistic assets; more openness, transparency, integration, and accessibility of linguistic assets across IT infrastructure and systems; more interaction across customer organizational departments; deeper expertise with complex language technology like responsive MT, summarization, chatbots, sentiment analysis and more multimedia content that can contribute to better CX.
Takeaways: Attendees will get insight into the path forward regarding technology in a very crowded landscape; learn to better verify capabilities when evaluating partners for tools with examples; and evaluate the proposed shift that is leading away from the translation management system-centric paradigm.
