In this presentation we will provide insights into the demography of the localization industry based on data available to the Globalization and Localization Association (GALA) through its user account system. Using information that was collected over the past three years, this case study shares insights into the differences between language service providers (LSPs) and client companies regarding titles and roles that are in use, and contrasts GALA’s data on LSPs with a survey of LinkedIn profiles of employees working for LSPs globally. We will discuss the root causes of the differences in titles and roles and share suggestions for how to streamline across the industry.
Takeaways: Attendees will gain insight into the vast spread of titles and roles of people working in the localization industry on both the buyer and supplier sides; through a discussion of the data, attendees will understand the root causes of this abundance; and attendees will walk away with a new appreciation for the complexity of how businesses organize their staff to manage ongoing localization work and plan for coming changes.
