There are some misconceptions about the XML Localization Interchange File Format (XLIFF) 2.0 extraction and merging process, including the XLIFF structure, its constraints, processing requirements and hidden assumptions. These misconceptions can cause interoperability issues and even violation of the XLIFF 2 standard. As part of the TAPICC (translation API) initiative, several best practices — along with approaches to avoid — were identified and cataloged by a working group of volunteers. In this session we will examine the lessons learned thus far and explore how to improve the XLIFF 2 extractor/merger, thus promoting best practices and ensuring interoperability among the diverse tools in use in the localization process.
Takeaways: Attendees will learn the specifics about the XLIFF 2.0 standard and the best practices and approaches to avoid in XLIFF 2.0 extraction and merger.
