Agnieszka Szarkowska is a professor for the Institute of Applied Linguistics at the University of Warsaw, head of the Audiovisual Translation (AVT) Lab research group, and honorary research associate at the University College London. With over 20 years of hands-on teaching experience, both in the academia and the industry, she has trained hundreds of students to become successful audiovisual translation professionals. Drawing on her passion for teaching, Agnieszka cofounded the AVT Masterclass, an online platform for professional audiovisual translation education. She is the author of over 70 publications, and the principal investigator of several research projects including eye tracking studies on subtitling, audio description, multilingualism in subtitling for the deaf and the hard of hearing, and respeaking.
