Georg Ell is the CEO of Phrase, one of the highest-rated localization technology companies in the world. Prior to Phrase, he was the CEO of Smoothwall, a global education safety-tech business which was acquired in 2021 by Family Zone, an ASX-listed global cybersafety business, where he is still a nonexecutive director. Prior to Smoothwall, Georg was director for Western Europe at Tesla, leading a team of 330 people across the UK, Ireland, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg on a mission to accelerate the world’s adoption of sustainable energy. Before that he was general manager, EMEA for Yammer, acquired by Microsoft in 2012. Georg started his career at Microsoft where he was the first quota-carrying salesperson for Microsoft’s enterprise cloud business in Europe. He is a venture partner at Localglobe, and at Craft Ventures, and an advisory board member at AccelerateHer. Georg has a family with two children and a dog, and loves skiing, sailing, and cycling.
