Yelena Proskurin graduated from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies with an MA degree in Translation and Localization Management. She then worked as a program manager at SDL International. She then advanced to lead the Marketing and Website Localization Programs at GoPro, where she successfully managed global content strategies and ensured that the brand’s voice resonated across diverse markets. Then, as a program manager at Meta, Yelena built the Consumer Marketing Localization program at WhatsApp. Her work ensured that WhatsApp’s marketing efforts were effectively tailored to meet the linguistic and cultural needs of its global user base. She came full circle because she is now a professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies teaching international marketing, project management, advanced project management, and other courses that prepare the next generation of localization specialists.
