Jennifer Vela-Valido has a degree in translation and a master’s in audiovisual and multimedia translation. After finishing her studies, she started her career as a translator and entrepreneur, and became the cofounder of Subbabel, the first audiovisual translation company in the Canary Islands. From 2007 to 2012, Jennifer combined her role in the company as business development manager with several training courses in localization, internationalization and innovation at the University of San Francisco and the University of Cambridge. In 2012, she joined Expedia Group as localization quality manager for the Spanish market. Her responsibilities include the linguistic quality control of the content produced for Spain by all brands belonging to Expedia Group. Jennifer is currently pursuing a PhD in localization quality management while she works as a researcher and invited lecturer specializing in localization, linguistic quality control and new technologies at the London Metropolitan University, the University College of London, the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the University Jaume I, as well as a speaker at international conferences such as Media for All, Languages and the Media, and Translating Europe Forum.
